Margoliouth House, Modern House Design by DLab

Designed by DLab, this modern house is located in Singapore. This is house reconstruction on Margoliouth Road retains the majority of the existing 2 storey bungalow on the site. The existing house structure is retained and forms the largest solid volume which contains the family-oriented accommodations such as the Dining, Kitchen, Family rooms and children’s bedrooms. It occupies the western half of the site and anchors the dwelling as a whole. Three more pavilions were added to the eastern half of the site. The first houses the grandparent’s suite and master suite. This monolithic 2 storey pavilion is situated at the furthest eastern corner of the site to act as a counter weight to the existing house. The second is a double volume glass pavilion for the living room and is placed in between the first two pavilions. This space uses insulation glazing on three of its facades, allowing daylight to flood the room so that it is perceived more like a sheltered outdoor venue. The third addition to the house is a partially enclosed garden courtyard placed at the center of the house, making it the focal point of all the living spaces. The courtyard is treated architecturally like all the other rooms, with three sides of the space enclosed in glass and a staircase to the master suite cantilevering off its side wall. Source

Here are pictures of Luxury House Design in Madrid, Designed by A-cero, located on a 3.500 m2 plot presenting a light slope that is used by the access ramp to the garage. The floor plan has the form of a greek cross, and is delimited by the access pathway and the other properties on both of its sides. The design of this 1.200 m2 compact single-family house is guided by two main concepts: a great functionality in the distribution of the interior spaces and their openness to the exterior to make the most of the views. Both ideas are also present in the interior design and in the selection of the construction materials. Inside the house, the design follows a functional structure evolving around the hall stairs, an central design element that provokes a surprising visual and spatial effect. Here are pictures of country house on Northgate Hill, one of country house was designed by Polhemus Savery DaSilva. Located in Cape Cod, with 4,750 square feet (interior) and 6,950 square feet (perceived). The model would have mimicked authentic rural early American farmhouses, the rectangular footprint, full two-story height, and central stair are elements of design, also essential were a front-on approach to an entry placed at the middle of a long side of the rectangle and associated with an entry porch. The typology makes the house familiar, but the details, the unexpected and quirky spaces, and the open flow of the plan from the entry to living spaces and between the living spaces, makes the house unique and special. From M.A Architecture : ” This residence is a sensitive addition to an existing rural log compound. A new, more modern interpretation of the style of the existing flanking log home and log garage was used for the structure that links them, which contains the core elements of the compound-kitchen, dining, living room and family bedroom upstairs.

Energy efficiency, recycled green materials and sustainability drove decision on the project. Reclaimed timber framing, intricate log joinery and local limestone are used to form a core element counterpoint to more modern materials and expressions. ”
