L-shaped House with Beach View by Nathan Good Architect

June 30, 2013 By: archinhome Category: Architecture, Home Design

This L-shaped House with Beach View is designed by by Nathan Good Architect, located in Oregon beach.
Cannon Beach Residence is designed by Nathan Good Architect with sustainability in mind. It provides more energy that it consumes. That is possible because of 5kWh rooftop photovoltaic system and 12-inch-thick concrete walls. There are also solar-thermal tubes that provide hot water and a ground-source heat pump that warms and cools the air. The house is L-shaped and wrapped around Sitka spruce that’s 38 inches in diameter. Recycled materials were used during construction and the house is designed to last multiply generations. It perfectly blends into the forested hillside thanks to its sedum-sprouting green roof. One side of the house has views of Haystack Rock while the other – views of the beach. A lot of windows provide the house with plenty of the natural light.

May 16, 2013 By: archinhome Category: Home Design

Applecross is an elite suburb of Perth, Australia with great views on Swan River. This house for family who often hosts guests was designed by Jackson Clements Burrows. It is divided into two halves – Verandah (the western side of the house) and Enclosure (the eastern side of the house). The western side characterized by double height space enclosed by operable louvers which control natural ventilation and shading levels. It’s mostly occupied during the day and evening. The eastern side hosts the kitchen, garage, bedrooms, study and bathrooms. There are also the dining room and various lounge areas which flow into outdoor space. The translucent roof is striped with timber battens and the floors are a warm dark timber. Cross-ventilation cools the spaces while passive solar energy heats them.

May 06, 2010 By: archinhome Category: minimalist house design

This minimalist house was designed by Andrea Oliva from Cittaarchitettura. According to the Digsdigs : It occupies a flat area about 60m away from the street. The house has a rectangular shape of approximately 11 m wide, 34 m long and 6 m tall. It visually consists of two elements: the porch made of concrete and finished with white plaster, and the main body inside of it. Large windows that frame a beautiful landscape around it are protected by the depth of the porch during the summer. These windows have wooden frames with laminated glazing so they are also protected from cold winds during the winter. The flat roof features solar panels that provides the home with an electricity and a hot water. source
