House with Amazing View on MT. Merino by Joel Sanders Architect

November 27, 2013 By: archinhome Category: minimalist house design, Modern House Design

This house is located in Mt. Merino, designed by Joel Sanders Architect. According to the Architect : This house is designed to take advantage of breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains – made famous by the Hudson River School painters in the late 19th century. Cedar-clad retaining walls, define the compact footprint of the 2200 square-foot house, organized around a two-story interior garden court. Embedded in the hillside, the house was designed from the inside out: like a movie camera viewfinder, the house captures a sequence of carefully framed views organized along a continuous circulation route. As it spirals around an interior courtyard, this concrete path threads its way through a chain of indoor and outdoor spaces that take viewers from the loft-like living/dining level on the upper level, past a pool area sheltered by a dramatic canopy to a wood-clad den and outdoor dining room below. June 17, 2013 By: archinhome Category: Home Design, Modern Home

This Modern Home with Low Energy Lighting is designed by Webster Wilson.
Webster Wilson, the designer of this house on the slope of an extinct volcano in inner city Portland, implemented his vision of modernist design with a humanistic slant. While being designed in modern style the house is complimented by generous use of natural finished wood and stone. Principals of abundant open space and natural light are implemented in the house. It is situated so high that commanding views of the neighbor could be seen almost from every room in all four levels. The clad of the house is done in a dark-stained knotty cedar and a weathered bark. The total house’s area is 2600 square feet. There are 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, working studio, kitchen, laundry, master suite with roof top deck and so on. Low energy lighting scheme, windows with thermally broken aluminum frames, solar panels on the roof and plenty other things implement principals of environment friendly house design.
